The European Commission believes that a universal charger for all mobile devices would reduce electronic waste and provide convenience for consumers.
Last month, the European Parliament officially approved a new law making USB-C mandatory.

The European Parliament announced that 27 EU countries and the European Parliament have agreed to introduce a universal charger for smartphones, tablets, consoles and digital cameras from fall 2024.
With the new decision, all small and medium-sized electronic devices to be sold in EU countries will be required to have a USB-C port.
