The Apple Watch Ultra is the company's top-of-the-line smartwatch. The company offers many more features and hardware improvements compared to its other smart watches with its premium smart watch. Here are all the details we need to know about the device
Design and Physical Features
After the promotional event held on September 7 , Apple Watch Ultra, which will meet with users on September 23, is the Apple Watch Series 8 released by the company. It offers us a larger screen size than other models. Although the smart watch is similar to the other watches in the company's smart watch portfolio in terms of body design, many details that we will talk about in our article make the device quite different from other smart watches. For example, the size of the device catches our eye in the first place. Apple Watch Series 8 smartwatches were launched with the same dimensions as their predecessor, 45 x 38 x 10.7mm. The Apple Watch Ultra, on the other hand, has a much larger design of 49 x 44 x 14.4mm. This difference in dimensions is also seen in weight. The weight of the device stands out at 61.3 grams, which is 20 grams heavier than the Series 8 model.
There are also remarkable elements on the body of the device that give the smartwatch its premium feature. So much so that while the Apple Watch Ultra's screen is covered with a titanium frame, we see stainless steel or aluminum options in Series 8. In addition, the back of the Watch Ultra, and therefore the part in contact with the skin, is designed to have a ceramic sapphire crystal surface. The smartwatch also stands out as the device with the most certifications among the company's smartwatch series. Because Watch Ultra, in addition to the IP6X water resistance certificate, also has MIL-STD 810H and EKG certificates.
The IP6X water and dust resistance certification of the smart watch shows that the device offers water resistance up to 100 meters under the ISO22810 standard. At the same time, the device will have underwater diving support up to 40 meters. The EKG certificate will allow the device to measure heartbeat and provide information about heart rhythm.
At this point, the most striking certificate is the MIL-STD 810H certificate. Because this certificate is mostly seen in military products. In order to obtain the certificate, the product must be resistant to environmental conditions. The product, which is a candidate for certification, is subjected to rigorous tests. During these tests, environmental factors that can be encountered in natural life such as low pressure test, low temperature or high temperature test, rain test, humidity test are taken into consideration. The fact that the smart watch successfully passes these tests and has a certificate is also an important factor to consider.
Display Features
We mentioned above that the Apple Watch Ultra differs in size from other smartwatches that the company has recently launched. We can think that the difference in the dimensions of the device may have directly affected the screen size, but the situation is different. The screen sizes of the smart watch and the Watch Series 8 models are almost the same. However, there are some fundamental differences between the screens on the devices. For example, Apple Watch Series 8 offers a peak brightness value of 1000 nits, while this value is preferred as 2000 nits in Apple Watch Ultra.
The ultra model smart watch comes with a Retina LTPO OLED display panel. The screen size of the device is 1.92 inches. As we mentioned above, we do not encounter a clear difference in screen size. Because the Watch Series 8 also had a 1.9-inch screen. Although the panel used for the screens of the devices is the same, the screen resolution and pixel density values differ from each other. Apple Watch Ultra has a resolution of 502×410 pixels. The pixel density of the screen of the device is 338ppi. If we take a look at the resolution and pixel density values that we mentioned now with the example we gave in the previous paragraph, we can say that the screen in the Apple Watch Ultra is much better than the screen in the Series 8. Sapphire crystal glass is used to protect the screen of the smart watch. In addition, the screen also hosts the Always-On Display feature
