Technology reporter Mark Gurman, known for his predictions and analysis about Apple , has published a new report on Bloomberg . In his report, Gurman stated that Apple will switch to USB-C charging port in devices with lightning ports such as AirPods and Mac in 2024.

This is presumed to be related to the draft law at the European Parliament General Assembly session held in Strasbourg last week, which aims to standardize different charging ports for various electronic devices such as USB-C, Micro USB and Lightning, and to reduce electronic waste. If the bill is passed, by the end of 2024, all new smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, headsets, portable video game consoles, speakers and keyboards will have USB-C charging ports.

Gurman states in his report that Apple is preparing for this situation. He says that earlier this year, Apple began testing USB-C charging on its iPhones. This issue came up in May. Again, Bloomberg stated that Apple may soon bring USB-C to the iPhone.

Apple is expected to introduce several new models in 2022. Among these models are the Mac mini models with M2 and M2 Pro processors, the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro model with the M2 and the new Apple TV.

At this point, it seems that an official statement from Apple about the transition to USB-C charging port in devices with lightning ports such as AirPods and Mac in 2024 will be a matter of curiosity.
