Before today's update, Spotify 's Apple Watch features were, in the simplest sense, rudimentary. With the new update, the artwork gets a more attractive user interface , including thumbnails . In the older version of the watchOS app, tapping an album or playlist immediately started playback without letting you select any options beforehand. The new update adds a two-button display to download and shuffle your music.
Spotify has seriously improved its Apple Watch app
Spotify first added offline playback in an update in May of last year, but that version still required you to use your iPhone to select offline music , and you could only download individual songs to your watch. Now, downloading entire playlists and albums without removing the phone will be a welcome change for Apple Watch owners. The new update also lets you swipe to like a song from the list view, a gesture already familiar to users of the Spotify iOS app.
Today's update also improves Apple Watch podcast playback, allowing you to see your listening progress and pick up where you left off. The previous version was always restarting podcasts from scratch.
