The new marketplace, named Setapp Marketplace, is scheduled to be operational from May 14, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the app distribution landscape.
The launch announcement was made subtly yet effectively through social media, teasing the upcoming store with a simple message, "It's coming. May 14. Stay tuned," accompanied by relevant app icons. This follows an initial announcement in August 2023 and the introduction of a beta iOS store for developers and a user waitlist in February 2024.
Setapp aims to provide an alternative to the conventional app stores, offering users a streamlined way to access a variety of apps. During the beta phase, Setapp highlighted its commitment to include a "carefully selected assortment of apps," including popular choices from its existing catalog. Although specific apps have not been detailed, the emphasis remains on providing high-quality, efficient software solutions.

Currently, Setapp’s service, primarily known for its Mac app offerings, starts at a monthly fee of $9.99, allowing users full access to over 200 Mac apps. The service includes a few iOS apps, primarily as companions to Mac applications. However, the process of installing iOS apps through Setapp can be cumbersome, involving multiple steps across different platforms.
The new Setapp Marketplace aims to simplify this process significantly for EU users, making it more straightforward and efficient to download and manage apps.
