LG and Samsung will produce OLED iPad Pro displays. LG Display recently began production of thin-film transistors for the new 13-inch iPad Pro displays, while Samsung will begin TFT production for the new 11-inch iPad Pro later this week. For those who don't know, TFT acts as a switch that switches individual OLED pixels off and on.
When will the OLED iPad Pro be available?
The 11-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Pro are expected to be unveiled (announced) at the March event. Apple typically opens pre-orders during the event or a week or two after the event, and goes on sale the following week. OLED displays are a first for the iPad series. Apple uses OLED technology in iPhone and Apple Watch. OLED offers deeper blacks and more vibrant colours compared to LED or mini LED.
2024 iPad Pro models are expected to have the new display as well as the Apple M3 processor used in the new MacBook Pro models last year. The growth of the screen and the thinning of the design will also bring a redesigned Magic Keyboard accessory.
