We've previously reported that iOS 18 will be the biggest update the iPhone will ever receive due to the addition of new AI features. Now a rumor has surfaced that Apple is planning to redesign iOS 18 inspired by Vision Pro's VisionOS operating system.
Apple is working on a wide range of AI features for iOS 18. While there are rumors of numerous AI features for iOS 18, we haven't heard any details about the platform's design or visual experience.
According to Israel's The Verifier, Apple will introduce iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in June, bringing design changes similar to those on the VisionOS platform. The report claims that the Apple TV app on iPadOS 18 will feature a translucent navigation bar. This is the same design language Apple used for its recently announced Vision Pro. But since Vision Pro is an augmented reality headset, it makes sense for the device to have translucent elements. But iPad and iPhone don't share the same visual experience.
The report also states that Apple plans to redesign system apps in iOS 18, including Safari. Certain menus and system elements may also be redesigned. Although iOS 18 design changes are not confirmed at this stage, the company will announce the new version at WWDC 2024.
