Apple has updated the AirPods Pro eartips support page with a new section, " The eartips are specially designed for the new AirPods Pro generation to deliver the highest quality audio experience ." So what does that mean?

As MacRumors reports , the company makes an announcement on its support site: " Ultimately, use the eartips that came with your new AirPods Pro. AirPods Pro (1st generation) eartips compared to AirPods Pro (2nd generation) eartips. It has a noticeably denser mesh. ” While Apple hasn't provided any additional details on the matter, this difference is thought to affect the earphone's acoustics, so audio performance may be adversely affected.

However , Chris Welch from The Verge has tested both generations of eartips with the new AirPods Pro and says he can't see a noticeable difference in sound. Here are Welch's thoughts on the matter : “ Can a looser mesh pattern really make a difference in sound quality? If there is a difference, it's extremely unclear. Because when I switched between the 1st and 2nd generation tips of the newest AirPods Pro, I did not notice any sudden or noticeable change in sound. Noise canceling remained equally effective in both pairs. Maybe lab testing equipment can spot some of the differences between the leads, but your ears will probably have a hard time doing that. ”

So, in Welch's words, in real-world testing, it's hard to feel the difference in everyday use. Apple has probably informed its users according to the test results it has done in its laboratories. If you are considering buying, you may want to heed this warning...
