Did you know that you can use Siri to answer and end phone and FaceTime calls without ever touching your device? This feature is perfect for when your hands are full or you're on the go. Here's how to make the most of Siri's call handling capabilities on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
Answering Incoming Calls Using Siri
When your iPhone rings, you can simply say, "Siri, answer call on speaker," and Siri will do just that. This feature is particularly useful if you’re busy and need to take the call hands-free.
To make this even more efficient, set up the "Announce Calls" feature so you can decide whether to answer without looking at your screen. Here's how to set it up:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Siri & Search.
- Tap Announce Calls.
On this page, you can choose when Siri should announce incoming calls. Options include "Always," "Headphones & Car," "Headphones Only," and "Never." For hands-free answering, select "Always."
With this setting, Siri will announce all incoming calls, identifying the caller if their name is in your contacts or if Caller ID is available. To accept the call, just say, "Siri, answer the call." Siri will connect the call to your speaker or headphones.
Ending a Call Using Siri
Typically, calls end automatically when the other party hangs up. However, you can also manually end calls using Siri or the on-screen button.
To end a call with Siri, you need to enable this feature:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Siri & Search.
- Activate the Call Hang-up feature.
For those using iOS 15 or earlier:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Accessibility.
- Tap Siri.
- Activate the Call Hang-up feature.
Once enabled, you can say, "Siri, hang up the call," to end it. Note that the caller will hear you before the call disconnects.
On the Apple Watch, you can either instruct Siri to hang up the call or press the red "end call" button on your watch screen.
With these simple steps, handling phone and FaceTime calls becomes even more convenient. Whether you’re using an iPhone, Apple Watch, or compatible headphones, Siri makes it easy to manage your calls hands-free.
