Apple's own game subscription Apple Arcade comes up with new releases every week. This Friday, Garden Tails: Match and Grow ( App Store link ) is a very relaxed match3 game that takes you to a beautiful garden with lots of animals and plants. The download is free as part of Apple Arcade and can be used on iPhones, iPads, Macs and the Apple TV. The 280 MB game also has a German localization to start with.
The Playdots development team describes Garden Tails as "the most relaxing puzzle game out there":
The gameplay is based on the classic Match3 principle, in which at least three symbols of the same type have to be lined up on a playing field in order to disappear from the field. Whoever combines four or even five symbols unlocks power-ups in the form of a rabbit, a bee or a hummingbird which, when triggered, eliminate entire rows or cause larger explosions.
There is no time limit for the Match3 levels in Garden Tails, but you have to make do with a limited contingent of maximum moves while collecting a certain number of symbols. This project naturally becomes more difficult as the game progresses. With freemium games, it is often the case that the paywall kicks in at this point – it will be exciting to see how this is solved with a premium game without in-app purchases or subscriptions to Apple Arcade. As a reward, level ups, more animals and plants to be unlocked for the garden, and new boosters to use in the levels.
Garden Tails is available free as part of the Apple Arcade game subscription. For Apple Arcade, which now has more than 200 titles available, you pay EUR 4.99 per month for a subscription.
