On March 21st, Apple launched a new update for iPhone and iPad device users, releasing iOS 17.4.1 for iPhones compatible with iOS 17, as well as iOS 16.7.7 and iPadOS 17.4.1 updates for older iPhone models. iPads were also updated to the iPadOS 17.4.1 version. This update, which follows the significant iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 release for the EU on March 5th, is designated with the build number 21E236. Apple advises all users to update to iOS 17.4.1, citing important bug fixes and security updates, yet the company has not specified which bugs were fixed or which security vulnerabilities were addressed.
On the iPadOS front, issues with scanning QR codes using camera applications on the 6th generation iPad, 7th generation iPad, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and 2nd generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro have been resolved.
Apple seems to have identified a critical security vulnerability in iPhones, as it has also made the iOS 16.7.7 update available to users of older phones. The beta for the next iOS version, iOS 17.5, could start rolling out in April.
