Lower level of migration to iOS 17
According to the Apple developer site, 20 percent of iPhones released in the last four years are still running iOS 16, while four percent are running an older version of iOS. Of all active iPhones, 66 percent run iOS 17, 23 percent run iOS 16, and 11 percent run an older version of iOS.
For comparison, at the same time last year, 81 percent of all iPhones released in the last four years were running iOS 16. So adoption of iOS 17 has been slower.
iPadOS 17 adoption rate
Apple also shared the iPadOS usage rate. Sixty-one percent of iPads released in the last four years have iPadOS 17 installed, while 29 percent have iPadOS 16 installed. Ten percent are running an older version of iPadOS. Of all active iPads, 53 percent are running iPadOS 17, while 29 percent are running iPadOS 16. And 18 percent are running an earlier version of iPadOS.
Apple has released three versions of iOS 17 so far. iOS 17.4 is expected to be released in March.
