Apple released the expected iOS 17.3 update on 22 January. The update, which includes innovations such as the new Stolen Device Protection mode, shared playlists in Apple Music, new wallpaper, also closes more than 10 security vulnerabilities for both new and old iPhone models.

On Apple's security patch details page, iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 come with 15 security patches, while macOS 14.3 closes 16 vulnerabilities. Since both systems share many features and applications, most of the vulnerabilities found and fixed in iOS and macOS are the same on both platforms.

One of the fixed vulnerabilities affects Apple's Neural Engine, which allows arbitrary code execution with kernel privileges. A vulnerability in Mail Search allows third-party apps to access sensitive user data. There was also a vulnerability that allowed shortcuts to use sensitive data with certain actions without asking the user. A vulnerability that allowed apps related to Time Zone management to see a user's phone number in system logs has also been closed. Apple also fixed numerous security breaches in Safari WebKit and Kernel.
