According to rumors, Apple is preparing to significantly increase the number of cores used in neural engines in the M4 and A18 chips that will be used in the iPhone 16 and next-generation Mac devices.

Although the A18 processor is expected to appear in September with the iPhone 16 models, we already knew that we would see advanced artificial intelligence in these smartphones. Speaking at the investor meeting, Tim Cook, CEO of the company, announced that they are working on a productive artificial intelligence that we will see the details later this year. We are expected to see this AI at WWDC 2024 in June.

The Neural Engine, which we first saw in iPhone 8 models, had two cores. Since iPhone 12, we have been seeing 16-core models. Apple, which prefers to improve core performances, seems to make improvements in terms of both performance and number this year.

It was rumored that some artificial intelligence features could only be used in iPhone 16. These rumors seem to be in line with the idea that the number of cores will be increased. The first Mac models with M4 chips are expected to be available in late 2024 or early 2025.
