Apple is trying to bring additional functionality and information to the existing native Weather app on iOS. The company's latest iOS 16.2 Beta has changes to bring a few updates to the Weather app.
As of now, iOS 's Weather app displays the current temperature in a large font at the top of the screen with the city name above it.
The Weather app also shows the day's temperature range and the 10-day forecast in the background. According to a Cult of Mac report, Apple will soon bring local weather information and related news to the Weather app to add more features.

This local news also includes severe weather events like hurricanes, tornadoes, hail, blizzards and more. In addition, beta testers noted that the feature is currently only available in major cities and offers weather-related stories on Apple News.
