One of the most popular wearables , the Apple Watch , never came with an integrated camera . However, the work of the Cuppertino giant in this direction seems to have gained momentum. A new patent published by the US Patent and Trademark Office on February 7 has revealed new details for the Apple Watch with a camera.
A new camera patent for the Apple Watch has emerged
According to the patent in question, the camera system planned for the Apple Watch is supported by a special two-piece strap that includes a slot section . Thus, it will allow users to easily remove the smartwatch from their wrists and take pictures with a built-in camera that faces downwards .
If we recall, Apple most recently patented a rotatable camera placed on the end of a strap in 2019 . Frankly, this shows us that the company is working on different ideas for an integrated camera system.
It should also be noted that Apple is not the first company to work on wearables with cameras. Because Samsung tried to adapt the wearable camera concept to daily use with the Galaxy Gear, which was released in 2013. However, the device, which was overshadowed by the Apple Watch, had difficulty meeting expectations with its 1.9MP camera.
Today, smart device manufacturers apply for many patents in line with their future plans. However, most of them are shelved before they are implemented. For this reason, we can say that it is currently unknown whether the new patent will be used in the next generation of Apple Watches.
