A recent glitch in Apple Podcasts is causing issues with the visibility and automatic downloading of the latest podcast episodes. Ordinarily, the app notifies users about new episodes of subscribed podcasts and downloads them to their devices for offline listening, according to user settings. However, reports have emerged, initially highlighted by 9to5Mac, of episodes released on a particular Friday not showing up as expected. These episodes fail to appear in the Up Next queue or download to iPhones and iPads.
Users attempting to access the latest content may find that, while previous episodes are listed, the most recent ones are missing, even after refreshing the app. Interestingly, the app can still play the elusive episodes if users manage to search for them directly by title, a workaround that necessitates knowing the episode's name through other means.
The issue seems to be affecting only a limited selection of podcasts, suggesting the root cause might be related to Apple's servers rather than a bug within the app itself. If this is the case, Apple could potentially correct the issue server-side, eliminating the problem for all affected users without the need for an app update.
