Experience close to 3D Touch
As you may remember, Apple introduced the 3D Touch feature with the iPhone 6S. The quick action menu popping up when an icon or item on the screen is hard pressed has been a useful feature for most users. Apple changed the feature a little with the iPhone XR model, 3D Touch left its place to Haptic Touch . While 3D Touch offers different interactions with the app that Apple refers to as peek & pop , depending on how hard the screen is pressed, Haptic Touch simply shows a pop-up menu when applying a long-press gesture.
Arrived with iOS 17 beta 2
Haptic Touch has been criticized for running slower than 3D Touch. In iOS 16 and iOS 17 beta 1, Haptic Touch options included fast and slow. It is said that the fast option in iOS 17 beta 2 has been accelerated even more, offering an experience close to 3D Touch. The new quick touch feedback, which feels like 3D Touch, can be selected under Settings - Accessibility - Touch - Haptic Touch .
3D Touch was used up to the iPhone XS running on iOS 14, it was removed in hardware along with the iPhone 11 series and disabled via software update for all other iPhones.
