After a year without a new iPad announcement in 2023, Apple is gearing up for the release of its next-generation tablets, including a new iPad Air and an OLED iPad Pro. According to reliable sources, these highly anticipated models are set to launch in early May, addressing the eager wait with significant enhancements.

The delay in the announcement, initially expected alongside the M3 MacBook Air, has been attributed to production hitches and software development processes. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, a reputable source in the tech industry, predicts that Apple will compensate for this wait with notable upgrades in both models.

The upcoming iPad Pro models are rumored to feature the M3 chip, along with a refreshed Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. A major highlight is the transition to OLED screens, promising deeper blacks and more vibrant colors. Additional expected improvements include a glass back and expanded storage options, catering to a range of user needs.

As for the new iPad Air, it's speculated to come in two screen sizes, including a previously unexplored 12.9" variant, alongside the standard 11" model. Although Gurman did not specify which processor the new Air would utilize, the current model uses the M1 chip, and given Apple's pattern, the M2 chip is a likely candidate, especially considering the more expensive Pro models may exclusively feature the M3. This strategic move aligns with Apple's history of differentiating its product lines through processing power.

These updates aim to refresh Apple's tablet offerings, blending performance enhancements with design innovations, as the tech giant seeks to maintain its competitive edge in the market.
