"In order for customers to properly test the new service, we decided to provide it completely free of charge for six months. That way, they will discover the magic of eSIM with all the benefits that a smart watch offers ," describes Roman Bacík, director of products and innovation at O2. At the same time, the operator discounted the latest Apple Watch Ultra , SE and Series 8 watch models for its clients .
Apple Watch with eSIM technology registers in the operator's network under the same phone number that the customer normally uses on his phone. Customers can simply activate the O2 Smart Watch service in a few steps directly on their phone in the Watch application. The watch then works with complete access to data services even without a Bluetooth connection with the iPhone. It is not known whether the operator is going to make a linked eSIM available for watches from other brands, such as Huawei.
The operator T-Mobile was the first to open the topic of eSIM in the Apple Watch smart watch in our country . He launched the Apple Watch Connection service in June last year, also at a price of CZK 99 per month. Initially, however, the Magenta operator offered a shorter trial period of 3 months. The third in the party - Vodafone - does not yet offer anything similar.
