Actor and TV host Joel McHale has a new mission on his hands: finding his misplaced Apple Watch. After leaving it behind during a flight, McHale turned to Apple’s Find My feature to locate the missing device and shared his search on Instagram.

Rather than being upset, McHale took the situation in stride. In a post, he jokingly offered his Apple Watch to whoever could guess his passcode, but of course, this is more playful than practical. Even if someone were to guess his passcode, Apple’s Activation Lock feature would prevent them from using it, as the watch remains linked to McHale's iPhone.

His followers responded with amusement, though some questioned why McHale took off his Apple Watch in the first place, especially while on a plane. McHale also shared a screenshot from Find My, revealing that the device is located in one of several buildings, but he cleverly avoided revealing any specific addresses.

The incident highlights the usefulness of Find My but also serves as a reminder from authorities: while the feature can help locate lost devices, it’s always best to involve law enforcement rather than attempting to retrieve the item yourself.

As McHale awaits updates from Find My, some have speculated that the watch could have been left on another plane, potentially explaining its immobility. However, if the device were still in the air, it would likely show movement as the aircraft travels.

Regardless, McHale’s situation is a reminder to all Apple Watch users: keeping your device securely fastened, especially while traveling, might save you from an impromptu game of hide-and-seek.
