Apple iPhone users now have the opportunity to join the waitlist for Google’s newest AI-powered feature, Ask Photos. Initially announced at Google’s I/O conference in May, the feature aims to simplify finding specific photos using natural language search, powered by Google’s Gemini AI models.
Ask Photos understands the context within your photo collection, allowing you to ask for moments, places, or people without manually scrolling through your gallery. It even offers recommendations for highlights from events or trips. Privacy is also a focus, with Google ensuring that your photos won’t be used for ads and maintaining your anonymity when human review is involved.
How to Sign Up for the Ask Photos Waitlist
To join the early access waitlist:
Open Google Labs: Visit the Google Labs website or access it from the Google Photos app (if available) on your iPhone. Find Ask Photos: Scroll to find the Ask Photos section in the Labs interface. Join the Waitlist: Click to join the waitlist for early access. It's currently open to a limited number of users in the U.S.Once accepted, you’ll notice an “Ask” tab within the Google Photos app, which offers a chat-like interface to ask questions and refine searches for your photos. It’s designed to learn from your queries and improve results over time.
While still in testing, Ask Photos promises to change the way users search for and relive their memories. AppleInsider will provide more insights as the feature becomes widely available.
