Former Courier Employee Faces Charges for Stealing Over $1 Million in Apple Products

A former courier has been accused of pilfering and selling Apple merchandise valued at over a million dollars! According to Global News, a UPS employee in Canada has been charged with the theft of Apple goods and jewelry exceeding $1.3 million in value. It is reported that the individual, who had been employed at the warehouse since 2013, admitted to stealing approximately 866 Apple devices, confessing his crime and even disclosing how he spent the stolen funds. In a single shift, he managed to make off with over 120 iPhones!

UPS terminated the individual's employment on January 22, after surveillance cameras caught suspicious activity in the warehouse, leading to his arrest on the same day. The former employee confessed to stealing not only Apple products but also jewelry from UPS, revealing that he used the stolen money to buy a house worth $680,000 and to pay off a $60,000 loan for his 2021 Audi. Investigations also uncovered that between September 2023 and January 2024, he deposited over $232,000 into his bank accounts.

Found in his house and car were $9,000 in cash, a MacBook, and jewelry valued over $9,000. The individual is now facing multiple charges, including possession of stolen property worth over $5,000, theft under $5,000, and possession of crime proceeds over $5,000. Prosecutors are seeking court approval to seize his property, funds, bank accounts, and vehicle.
