As a Windows compatibility layer for macOS and Linux, CrossOver enables Mac users to operate both productivity software and games. This latest iteration brings general enhancements to CrossOver's functionality, with a particular focus on gaming.
The company announced, "For our Mac users, CrossOver 24 incorporates fixes for numerous games. Following the latest game updates, 'Planet Zoo' is now playable, the 'Warframe' standalone launcher is operational, 'The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth' no longer experiences crashes, 'Mafia: Definitive Edition' is now playable, 'Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition' multiplayer is restored, and 'Horizon Zero Dawn' and 'Anno 1800' are now smoothly operational right out of the box."
Further emphasizing the commitment to enhancing user experience, the update includes "a few highly-requested UI updates." Developers added, "Users can now drag and drop executables into CrossOver for installation or direct execution, and we've introduced the option to modify the directory for storing your bottles. This feature is particularly beneficial for users looking to save large Windows apps on an external drive."
