Cisco has taken virtual collaboration to the next level with its latest Webex update for the Apple Vision Pro. Introducing Cisco Spatial Meetings and the Webex AI Assistant, this update brings immersive and AI-enhanced productivity tools directly to Apple's innovative headset.
Since its debut on the Vision Pro in February 2024, Webex has allowed users to participate in meetings using augmented reality. Now, with Cisco Spatial Meetings, users can hold virtual product demos, training sessions, and more, in a way that simulates in-person interaction, even across vast distances. The technology, part of Cisco's vision of "Distance Zero," aims to bridge the gap in hybrid work environments by making it feel as if there is no separation between participants.
However, Cisco Spatial Meetings requires more than just the Vision Pro to work. The feature also needs a Cisco Room Bar, a high-end device equipped with NVIDIA chipsets and dual-lens cameras designed to enhance audio and video through AI. The Room Bar enables Spatial Meetings to deliver a seamless experience in industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and retail, with its applications already being explored by professionals, including surgeons.
In addition to spatial capabilities, Cisco introduced a new Webex AI Assistant for Vision Pro. This assistant will help users stay on top of tasks with summaries, writing assistance, and meeting catch-up features—streamlining workflows and making meetings more efficient.
While Apple Intelligence offers similar tools on iPhone and iPad, these features have yet to make their way to the Vision Pro, which is currently limited to devices with A17 Pro or M1 chipsets or later. As Apple continues to develop its AI suite, Cisco’s latest tools position the Vision Pro as a powerful device for the future of work.
