Despite the launch yet to happen, reports are already suggesting that Apple suppliers are working on a second-generation version of the headset that is expected to be targeted towards the everyday consumer, unlike the first version which is said to be “super high-end” and extremely costly.
Reports have previously claimed that Apple’s first AR/VR headset will cost between $3000 to $5000, with the model expected to be called “Apple Reality Pro.”
According to respected TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who shared information about the upcoming headset on Twitter, Apple’s second-generation headset will reportedly be offered in two high-end and low-end models, with the current launch schedule for both models being 2025..
In 2021 we saw The Information publish a sketch of the upcoming headset, claiming to have seen secret internal imagery from an unnamed source “with direct knowledge” of the development, reporting that the device will offer a “sleek, curved visor attached to the face by a mesh material and swappable headbands.”
Concept creator Ian Zelbo has released visuals showing what Apple’s new headset will probably look like based on earlier leaked information, featuring an Apple Watch-style adjustable headband and AirPods Max reminiscent mesh cushion for comfort around the wearer’s eyes.
