The Rumor and Reality

Recent buzz suggested that the epic RPG "Baldur's Gate 3" was set to launch on the iPad in early 2025. This speculation excited many fans who were eager to see the popular game on Apple's tablets. However, these hopes were dashed when Larian Studios, the game's developer, denied the rumor.

Official Denial

Michael Douse, head of publishing at Larian Studios, addressed the speculation directly. In response to an early post on X (formerly Twitter), he dismissed the rumor with a straightforward, "Ur source is silly." Despite debunking the iPad release, Douse praised Apple’s hardware, particularly the impressive performance of the M1 chip.

Apple's Efforts in Gaming

Apple has been actively working to attract AAA game developers to its platforms, including Mac, iPad, and iPhone. The company has even developed a game porting kit, enabling users to port various Windows games to Apple Silicon, albeit unofficially.

Baldur's Gate 3 on Mac

While an iPad version is off the table, "Baldur's Gate 3" is available for Mac. The game, which launched on Mac in September 2023 via Steam for $59.99, has garnered numerous awards for its rich story and engaging gameplay. Although the Mac port experienced performance issues initially, the latest patches have resolved most problems, ensuring a smooth gaming experience.

System Requirements

To run "Baldur's Gate 3" on a Mac, players need at least an M1 chip with 8GB of RAM, though an M1 Pro or better is recommended for optimal performance. The game also demands a significant amount of storage, with a footprint of 150GB on an SSD.
