Apple has released version 14.0 updates for its iWork suite, encompassing Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, with the aim of refining the productivity experience for users on iPad, iPhone, and Mac. This update focuses on enhancing collaborative efforts, simplifying document editing, and maintaining the integrity of photo content.
A notable feature in this update is the introduction of streamlined in-app notifications, which alert users when collaborators join a document. This addition makes teamwork more transparent and efficient by allowing users to easily track who is actively participating in the document editing process.
The update also enhances text selection on Mac and iPad (with a connected keyboard and trackpad or mouse), enabling users to select noncontiguous text such as words, sentences, or paragraphs by pressing and holding the Command key. This improvement is designed to streamline editing tasks and increase productivity.
Further, the iWork apps now support the addition of HEIC photos taken on an iPhone or iPad without compromising on file format or quality. This feature ensures that documents retain their visual integrity when incorporating images.
In addition to these user-facing updates, Apple has made several behind-the-scenes adjustments aimed at boosting the stability and performance of the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps.
The latest iWork version requires macOS Ventura 13.0, iOS 16.0, iPadOS 16.0, or later and is also compatible with visionOS 1.0, ensuring wide accessibility across Apple's ecosystem. This update follows a previous enhancement in September 2023, which introduced support for the USDZ format, continuing Apple's commitment to improving its suite of productivity tools.
