iOS 16Looking at the features page, the SMS Tapback feature for the Messages application draws attention. When an iPhone user responds to an SMS message from Android, the other party sees it with emoji, not just text. This detail was interestingly shared with the release of iOS 16, it did not exist before.
It's listed as an iOS 16 feature
Google announced in January that the Messages app would translate iMessage reactions (Tapbacks) sent by iPhone users. Instead of plain text, it's shown translated into emoji, similar to what iPhone users see among themselves
Interestingly, Apple shared this update made by Google on its own page as if it was part of its own operating system and came with iOS 16. Apple has nothing to do with iMessage reactions on Android. On the other hand, this feature was made available in the iOS 15 era and is not available for all Android SMS/RCS apps, only in Google's default client.
In iOS 16, if an iPhone user is having a group chat with Android and other iOS users, all messages are sent as SMS instead of iMessage. Before iOS 16, tapbacks were sent as SMS. In summary, there is also the case of reactions in iOS 16, but this information is not included in the page where iOS 16 new features are listed in detail.
