Apple , which is expected to introduce the mixed reality device known to have been developed for a long time , came up with an interesting news today. Information obtained by TheElec from various sources revealed that Apple wants a display with a PPI value almost 7 times higher than the iPhone 14 in augmented reality devices.
According to the information conveyed by the sources, Apple requested a screen of 3,500 PPI from Samsung and LG, which it works with, for the screens on its devices . The sources emphasized that this request was made for the company's mixed reality device.
So what else will the glasses of Apple's mixed reality device offer?
Apple's mixed reality device will consist of an ' OLEDoS (OLED on Silicon - OLED on Silicon) ' panel made of silicon instead of glass. This panel will allow high resolution to be offered in a very small space on devices such as mixed reality glasses.
Sony will be the first company to offer this display panel to Apple. This panel is expected to be presented by Samsung and LG later in 2024. On the other hand, the panel is not expected to be put into use until next year.
What is Pixels per inch (PPI)?
Known as 'pixel precision', PPI is a concept used in image tools to express image sensitivity . The higher the PPI value, the better the clarity offered by the screen. Because PPI basically represents the number of pixels in each inch area.
